WHAT IS BOOK SHOPPING?
Book Shopping is when students get to empty out their Book Boxes and choose new books. Here, they'll get to practice choosing Good-Fit Books from our Classroom Library. We will begin on Tuesday when we get back. This schedule will be posted on my closet door:
WHAT IS A GOOD-FIT BOOK?
One of today's lesson was on "What is a Good-Fit Book?
Students were shown different pairs of shoes and we had a conversation on what purpose did each pair have. I used this lesson to teach students how to choose the right books to read. They learned the acronym I PICK. Here is the poster I used:
They also learned a RAP for it. Look for it after this post.

WRITING CENTER-Writing Around the Room
The second lesson taught for this center was Writing Around the Room.
Here, students are giving a sheet of paper and a clipboard to walk around the room and copy words they see. Eventually, they will write sentences with those words as their writing progresses.

HELPING MY CHILD PRACTICE THEIR HANDWRITING
In order for a student to have good handwriting, they need to practice, practice, practice. Here is my favorite website to go to for help:
donnayoung.org
Click on the tab <HANDWRITING> and click again
Scroll down to <ZB MANUSCRIPT> and click it
Be sure to check out the "ZB ANIMATION PRACTICE."
ZB stands for Zaner Bloser which is one of the letter styles taught in school and the one that I will be using in my class:
Scroll down to <Handwriting Letter Animation Menu> and click it
Click on the letter you want to view
For more practice after you see the animation of that letter, click on <ZB Style Handwriting Worksheet> for that letter

2nd CENTER-WRITING
Students were introduced to our 2nd center: WRITING.
The center is located by our television in a gray bookshelf.
The first lesson was on the importance of learning how to write their names as well as their classmates. Students have been practicing how to write small letters using handwriting paper. I suggest you keep on practicing at home. You can buy cheap writing tablets in the Dollar Tree or the supermarket. Ms. Locy and I have included the paper below to show the order of each stroke for your reference.
