Students were delivered a lesson on "WHAT IS A WORD WALL?"
Our WORD WALL can be found when you enter the classroom. It is on the white board to the left. All the letters and words have a magnet on the back so students can come up and grab a word they need help spelling.
The Word Wall is a very powerful tool in a first grade classroom for teaching reading, writing and spelling to children. It provides a reference support for them as they are learning to work independently.
The first things that went on our Word Wall were ALL of our names and the first 100 Fry words. We will continue to add words throughout the year. Here's a picture of the trees and owls I used:
Here is the link where I found the FRY words. Feel free to print a copy for yourself. ALL STUDENTS IN FIRST GRADE ARE REQUIRED TO LEARN THE FIRST 400 FRY WORDS BY THE END OF THE YEAR, so any help and support you can provide me at home is certainly appreciated.

Just in case you're wondering, Dr. Edward Fry was a professor for the State University of New Jersey who became an expert in teaching reading. He wrote many articles and books throughout his career and created the famous Fry List.
